SOLO CONCARNEAU 2019
The Solo Concarneau, Guy Cotten Trophy is an event reserved for the new Figaro Bénéteau 3 and qualifier for the Solitaire URGO - Le Figaro. The 43rd edition takes place from May 10th to 15th in Concarneau.
This year is marked by the arrival of the Figaro Bénéteau 3, the first production one-design boat equipped with foils.
Historically moored in the marina of Concarneau, the boats of the Solo Concarneau - Trophée Guy Cotten 2019 will now be visible from the Quai Carnot, located just behind the Ville Close.
Used to host the Transat AG2R La Mondiale every two years, the Quai Carnot is currently being restructured and the rehabilitation of an old fish market storage building has allowed the creation of a huge space with shops, including the new "Guy Cotten-Boutique" space, but also a bar and a restaurant "Le Chantier", which will host the race organization during the event.
This year, the start will be on a Sunday (May 12 at 3:00 pm) "We want to share this moment with the public of Concarneau" explains Annick Martin, President of the SRC "We are now trying to organize several events around the race, in order to attract a large public on the Quai Carnot to come and greet the skippers."
Loyal partners
Since 2013, the Solo Concarneau has awarded the Guy Cotten Trophy, in tribute to the late entrepreneur. This 43rd edition will have an even more special flavor for Guy Cotten, a company specializing in marine equipment:
"We really like this event and the conviviality that reigns there," explains François Bertholom. "The exchanges with the skippers are excellent and essential, allowing us to develop our products according to their experiences. We are even more delighted this year that the boats will be moored along the Quai Carnot: this coincides with the opening of our brand new store just opposite the pontoons. We will certainly take advantage of this to invite the sailors.
Xavier Calvarin, Deputy Mayor of Concarneau:
We are very attached to the Guy Cotten company, which is committed to the safety and comfort of all sailors. It is normal for the community to support events that are important to it. We are delighted to host this beautiful event on the Quai Carnot and to benefit from an event more open to the general public. Especially since the great champions of ocean racing are returning to the Figaro Bénéteau circuit, attracted by the technical level required. It will be wonderful to see them racing on equal terms on the water!
