In 1995, Piel was the French leader in the manufacture of isothermal clothing for water sports. They were also the official supplier of the French sailing teams for many years.
Piel developed the TPS suit
In 1993, following 4 years of tests, Piel developed the supple, thermally insulating, and buoyant TPS (Thermal Protective Suit) manoeuvring suit. In the event of damage, sailors can continue to organise a boat’s evacuation or wait for the rescue services. It has saved many lives, including that of Raphaël Dinelli and Thierry Dubois, in the Vendée Globe 1996.
It is currently being certified.
